A necessidade de proteção do paciente, operador e meio ambiente contra os perigos inerentes á utilização de instrumentos biomedicos na prática medica, exige a implementação criteriosa de equipamentos biomédicos com caracteristicas de segurança e qualidade compativeis com a responsabilidade de suas aplicações. Por outro lado, o projeto e a implantação de instalações eletricas para fins medicos, com caracteristicas significativamente diferentes das instalações elétricas para outras finalidades, constituem presentemente uma constante preocupação dos responsáveis por complexos hospitalares. O curso pro posto visa contribuir com os esforços existentes no setor educacional e formativo desses setores, desenvolvendo- se em um nivel de especialização/pôs-graduação e com duração estimada de 2 semestres. Convenientes adaptações permitem sua utilização na orientação do pessoal tecnico atuante nesse campo, havendo a eventual hipótese de sua aplicação futura em nivel de graduação.

The need to protect the patient, operator and environment against the dangers inherent in the utilization of biomedical instruments in medical practice requires the careful implementation of biomedical equipment with safety and quality characteristics compatible with the responsibility of these applications. On the other hand, the project and implementation of electrical installations for medical purposes, with characteristics significantly different from electrical installations for other purposes, constitutes a timely and constant preocupation of those responsible for hospital systems. The course proposed attempts to contribute to those areas, representing the current efforts being developed by the educational and formative sectors at the especialization/post-graduate level, having an estimated duration of 2 semesters. Convenient adaptations allow its utilization for the orientation of technical personnel working in this field, and its future utilization at the graduate level can be eventually hypothesized
