A falta de recursos humanos em manutenção de equipamentos médico-hospitalares levou o NEH do CEFET PR a propor a abertura de um curso técnico de 20 . grau(1988). Com a aprovação do curso, pelo CFE (1989), surgiu a necessidade de orientar e disciplinar sua implantação na rede nacional de ensino. Este artigo apresenta critérios e recursos básicos que as instituições proponentes deverão satisfazer, objetivando uma implantação criteriosa, capaz de tornar o processo formativo mais eficaz, e vislumbrando o surgimento de uma classe de profissionais conscientes de sua função no ambiente da tecnologia aplicada aos serviços de saúde.
