The purpose of this paper is to establish the characteristics needed in order to build an special room for patients who receive high doses of 131iodine (flOm 1.850 up to 7.400 MBq), for tyroid cancer therapeutic. The main points discussed are: physical aspects of the lOom, localization in a hospital, shielding plOblems, solid and liquid storage, and waste disposal and others aspects.
